It has been bought to my attention that there are some schools that have question's regarding the electronic DVIR's.

Here is Rusty Seastrum's response to this question:



Yes, it is acceptable, but not mandatory, for an operator to maintain their maintenance and DVIR files electronically only.

The software must be capable of printing a summary report of both records for the inspector to review when he inspects the bus, and must be capable of printing all files completely and in compliance with the regulations for events such as an accident or other investigation or audit.

Each report must have an electronic signature or other identifier unique to the individual completing the electronic document.

If the software is capable, and an MVI is in agreement, he may have the summary and/or complete reports emailed to him.
