Fuel Tank interference from DOT

It has been brought to the attention of this office that certain models of General Motors vehicles have installed an inline water separator that when assembled has interference with the fuel tank.

Beginning December 1, 2007 any vehicle that displays evidence of wear on the fuel tank will fail inspection with defect code 46.00 1. and the safety certificate will not be issued until the interference is mitigated.
