Dear IC Customer,
IC Corporation and Weldon Technologies Inc. have been notified by the State of New York Department of Transportation that the Weldon 1010 surface mount white 7” lens does not meet SAE standard J593c, which refers to J759 for identification on the lens. This issue effects BE, CE, FE, and RE bus models built 2/24/00 thru 10/11/07 and requires that at least one back-up clear lens have an “R” designation on the surface of the lens. .
To resolve this issue, one replacement lens per bus, Weldon part number 1003-1000-30, is being sent at no cost to you. Simply remove the 4 screws that attach the right hand lens as viewed from the back of the bus, and replace with the lens provided – see diagram below. Reinstall the 4 screws to secure the new lens. Dispose of the old lens.
Please give this your prompt attention by replacing this lens as soon as possible. Note that New York State Inspectors may classify this as an “A” type failure, which could take the bus out of service if the replacement lens provided has not been changed. Enforcement of this issue by NYDOT will begin April 30, 2008.
