Blue Bird Corporation Announces Expanded Affiliation with Cummins

Fort Valley, GA (September 26, 2005) – Blue Bird Corporation and Cummins Inc. have agreed to significantly expand their manufacturing affiliation, Blue Bird representatives announced today.

Beginning in 2006, Blue Bird will offer Cummins' popular ISB engine in all Type C & D school buses and activity buses. “We are excited to announce this enhanced partnership with Cummins,” said Dennis Whitaker, Vice-President of Engineering for Blue Bird. “The proven technology of Cummins engines today, along with their integrated engine and after-treatment system planned for 2007, will greatly enhance Blue Bird's value proposition with our customers.”

“We're extremely pleased that Blue Bird has selected us as a preferred partner,” continued Cummins President of Engine Business, Jim Kelly. “Blue Bird customers will enjoy new levels of reliability, safety and performance, and lower cost of ownership with Cummins engines.” The reliability and performance of the Cummins ISB has been proven with over 3 million Cummins B Series engines already sold. The latest version of the ISB achieved a 2% fuel economy improvement while meeting more stringent 2004 EPA emissions requirements. Moreover, noise – an important safety factor – was reduced 50% during driving and 80% at idle in the newest ISB model.

Cummins engines for 2007 will build on this proven architecture with the addition of the integrated Cummins Particulate Filter and a crankcase ventilation system. These enhancements will allow all Blue Bird vehicles to meet the more stringent emissions standards set to take effect in January 2007.

Blue Bird is the only dedicated school bus manufacturer in the world and offers a complete line of Type A, C and D school buses. All Blue Bird buses offer a variety of options and configurations with seating capacities from 10 to 90 passengers.

For nearly 80 years, Blue Bird Corporation has continued to set industry standards with its innovative design and manufacturing capabilities.
