Call to Order by President Don Brown.

Thank you to Kenworth Northeast of Syracuse for the sponsorship of this meeting, refreshments, and the use of their facility.

Reading of the minutes of the Central Chapter, 17 April 2013 meeting were presented for approval. Motion made to accept as read, seconded, and accepted. Copy is on file with the secretary.

Treasurers’ report submitted and read for approval by Treasurer Dan Elderbroom, Motion made to accept as read, seconded and accepted. Copy is on file with the secretary.

Old Business;
• NYHMA phone book was discussed with some suggestions for content and possible printing companies.
• PJ Schmid presented a report for the proposed end of year gathering of the Central Chapter at a Syracuse Chiefs ball park, discussion took place and it was decided that this proposal would be tabled due the planning of the 2013 Summer Seminar.
New Business;
• Elections; the secretary advised the members present that with the changing work load environment at his location that it is recommended that an alternate secretary be appointed to fill the office if George Toper was unable to attend. No further action was taken at this time.
• Election; the floor was open for nominations for officers from the floor. No nominations were presented, a motion was made to have the secretary cast one ballot for the offices presented, seconded and accepted.

Web page; All members were reminded to check the information on the web page for being correct as many members use the information within for contacting someone when an issue in another district has happened for assistance.

Summer Seminar; the 2013 Summer Seminar meeting prior to this regular meeting produced the following information; 39 Vendors have submitted registration forms, no more than 5 tables are available at this time. 20 schools with personnel have registered to attend, all districts are reminded that registration is important to have an attendance count correct. Please register as soon as possible to help in organization of this program. Harlan presented the list of presenters,
• DPF troubleshooting and maintenance presented by Cummins,
• After treatment DEF proper storage and distribution.
• DOT a program is still being organized due to the changes in the regulations nothing is been offered at this time.

Members Call;
• The passing of NYHMA member and officer “Rick West” was noted, our deepest sympathy is extended to his family and friends.
• A motion was made for the Central Chapter to donate $100.00 in the name of Rick to the charity of the family’s choice. It was noted that there was a request in his obituary for all donations go to “MDA”, the treasure will confirm and submit a donation. Motion was seconded and accepted as offered.
• NOTE from secretary; there are many changes in the ranks of the Central Chapter membership I.E. retirements, new members, and the dreaded layoffs of mechanics and other personnel. I know for sure of Victor Tripp is retiring and there are more that have their paper work in. I was hoping to have a list of these members but was unable to get it together. So from the Central Chapter we wish those retiring a great and wonderful retirement, for those being laid off we are sorry to hear this and hope you find your next position very enjoyable, and to the new members new or moving up “Welcome”, the NYHMA is looking forward to your attendance and participation in this great organization.
State HMA;
There will be a Board of Directors meeting held at Liverpool Transportation Center on Thursday 23 May 2013, all board members are asked to attend, all past presidents are board members and any standing president is welcome.

NYSDOT: No report, Mike Nuber was unable to attend.

• NYBS John Johnston noted that the 2013 wait to start warning is very important and that all need to start using this procedure as a MSL light will appear. There is or will be a “Tech Tip” on this information. The Allison transmission has a economy mode that has affected the operation of these units, if you have any questions on this contact NYBS, and reminder that all new units will have the “OBDII” connectors.
• Enertech/Wellworth Ron introduced himself and offered information on their products for cleaner burning engines and keeping EGR, DPF and regeneration procedures at a minimum.
• Conrad noted that the Bridgestone/Firestone tire contract are in place, contact CTTC if further information is needed

Round table;
• George of ESM noted that the new Visions appear to an issue with expansion tanks cracking, and NYBS is knows of this and is researching the problem.
• Don of Lansing noted that he had assisted Whitney Point with an issue with one of their buses in his area; he stated that there were a few phone calls made to find to find his number so he could assist. The phone book and web information is very helpful, Don was able to help and get the unit back in operation for the return trip.
• Dan of Liverpool noted that he had received a replacement radiator for a Blue Bird AA that tanks were reversed mounted on the core and would not fit.
• Blue Bird AA windshield defrost hose was found to be disconnected and not functioning,
• Kevin of Cato Meridian has found an 2011 IC that has a leak at the left corner of the radiator.
• Jeff of JD noted he has an issue with getting Allison software to operate on his computer; a few had suggestion to check.
• Harlan of Dryden has found that the retaining nut for the Air pressure sensors on 2007-2009 Dodge caravans are breaking and letting air pressure to drop, others have noted the same issues. SRC failures have been becoming more frequent and has found when the computer was hooked up had 34 past failure in the system. Harlan also noted that by doing a force Regeneration the power has increase on his units.
• Vic of Carthage has found that the plastic ties for the rear brake hoses are breaking and letting the brake hoses become loose and fall near the drive shaft.
• Harlan noted that he has found an issue with the “Red Line” of the front air tank being very soft and leaking through the line, any questions contact Harlan Cummins Red Engine was noted.

Next meeting: October 16 2013 Bus Parts Warehouse has shown an interest in sponsoring this meeting, a follow up schedule will be presented for next school year meetings.
