Old Business;
• Emergency Contact phone book was discussed, 59 schools have submitted data to date and that no further data from schools has been received since last meeting.
• The donations of “Teddy Bears” was discussed, Dan noted that he is waiting for one more company to present their design, once received he will purchase the best design.
• Rusty Seastrum card was sent and to date no follow up information has been received.

New Business;
• The secretary reported that the email contact list will be updated and test messages maybe sent out to clean up all old or discontinued email addresses there is no need to respond unless there is some updated information that is needed.
• The secretary also noted that it’s the end of the year and it would be in the best interest in the NYHMA that everyone check the web page information to be sure it is updated. It was discussed that the user name in the index would be best to be the school district or company with all needed information contained within, and that the map update would help. If there is any information needed contact Jason or George.
• Dan noted that a survey of the school districts with information on; number of mechanics, number of buses, number of buses per mechanic, age of buses, do you have a parts person position, do mechanics also drive for the district, is there a body person position , etc. This would help in the organization of standards in the bus garages of the area. A few districts have noted that they are short staffed to accomplish their mission. We are looking for someone step up and try to create a spread sheet of this information, if you’re interested contact Dan or George.

Committees:
• WEB Page: No Report
• Summer Seminar; there was a committee meeting planned for prior to this meeting but Harlan was unable to attend due to drive a bus run. Harlan is scheduled to retire this coming year and the need for a chairperson is in dire need please consider this position to help the NYHMA.
• Member /Sick Call; None reported
• State HMA; No report was submitted

NYSDOT; No representatives were available at this time.

Vendor Information;
• John Sager introduced himself as the central representative for Superior Lubricates
• Bob from Bus Parts Warehouse stated that they looking for a few districts to be tester of their new computer based ordering system, if you’re up to helping them with this contact them as soon as possible.
• Roger noted that there move of their facility Henry Clay Blvd. is progressing and will take place soon more information will follow.

Round Table:
• George from ESM noted that he has found an issue with differing ply rating of the tires on the same series buses, buses of the same series, type, weight and design are coming in with load range G (14ply) or H (16ply). With the help of John Johnston this issue is being resolved and a standard of G rated tire data sheets are being installed on this fleet.
• Don noted he has had the issue of drivers starting the bus prior to the “Wait to start” light goes out and causing the engine warning light to come on. The clearing of this code was discussed. Roger noted that the computer has to recognize the engine prior to start for this light not to be activated. Emergency window with the magnet controller has been failing.
• Gerald noted an issue with an All American with a no heat condition; heat control valve that appeared to be working but further investigating had no fluid flow. John Johnstown noted that they have found that the DEF nozzle on some units is misaligned and causing some of the plugged condition with the tube. Roger Harrod noted that they have found that some of the DEF tested is below standards specific gravity. The all electronic control for entrance door are having an issue with the limit switches and are not an easy way to adjust to control the reds, they have had to make an adjustment to the design.
• Ed had a 2011 All American, which had a loose connection within the computer and was affected after warm up; the problem was found with a connection inside the computer and would send a code when moved.
• John Johnston advised that the federal government has presented a “rolling resistance” standard that will become an issue with the emission standards in the near future he feels that this will become a problem to our fleets, maintenance, and the tire purchasing. Discussion took place on this subject and what is to be expected.
• Kevin noted that he has a new unit that the rear four way flashers are not working unless the key is on.

Next meeting will be sponsored by Leonard Bus Sales at Barbagallo’s Restaurant Molloy Rd East Syracuse, 15 January 2014.

Motion made for adjournment of this meeting, seconded, and accepted.

Thanks again to New York Bus Sales for sponsoring this meeting and their continued support.
