Meeting called to order by Central Chapter president Kevin Dattler.

Pledge of Allegiance was suspended due to no flag present.

Thank you to School Bus Warehouse for the sponsoring of this meeting and there continued support to this organization.

Reading of the minutes of the Central Chapter, 19 May 2010 meeting were presented for approval. Motion made to accept, seconded, and accepted.

Dues from membership registrations have been coming in. List of received dues were read aloud.

Old Business; None reported

New Business;
• The secretary has emailed the 2010-2011 membership registration forms out, disregard the due date do to late mailing.
• The secretary notified the members present that the commercial pupil transportation companies are being charged as a district for membership rather then the business charge, no discussion took place.
• The secretary treasure brought it to the attention of those present that the Policy of East Syracuse Minoa Schools Transportation Department that they do not want an employee of the district holding an office in the New York Head Mechanics Association and has notified the membership that they need to elect a new treasure and secretary.
• It was requested that the secretary submit an updated membership list of paid members, the secretary will have an updated list for the November meeting, if you wish to know before hand please contact the secretary/treasurer. The list of paid members was read from the record.
• WEB Page: Bob noted that if you are posting information to the web page while
logged in you only have a 15 minute period of time before the page will log you out automatically, so if your information takes too long it’s best to use “word” type program write it then copy and paste to accomplish what is needed.
• Summer Seminar: Reported that to date there is 16 unpaid districts with 42 unpaid personnel still to be received. The attendance chairman will be contacting those not paid for responses. Reported also: all known expenditures have been paid and the balance of the Summer Seminar Checking account is $2221.91. Bob Duquette issued the Summer Seminar “Evaluation Report” of the presenters and overall comments & suggestions. Also noted that the attendance and vendor participation had surpassed all recorded summer seminars.

• DOT; None reported, not in attendance.
• State HMA:
There is a need for the "2011 Summer Seminar Committee" if you are available for helping with the planning, organization, and or implementing of this excellent program for the bus mechanics of NY, contact Bob or Harlan, your help will make the operation go more effective and faster.
The state is in turmoil with the retirements caused by the incentives that were offered; many changes in command are taking place and will filter down through the ranks until all is finished. Harlan read allowed the list of known retirees and their replacements.
A "Right Hand Stop Arm ” is being considered and is in the planning for the DOT to authorize.
OGS of New York State is going to contact Harlan and the NYHMA for advisory team that would assist in the recommendations and information of ordering specifications of new buses.
State Aid was discussed on option items that it will NOT be covered if ordered.
Emissions testing equipment of the down state requirements are being dropped due to age and changes in the emissions requirements. OBD II may be the next testing level. This will cover all size vehicles.
Fire Suppression is still in the organizing state.
Harlan will be attending an 18 November 2010, meeting with the state officials, if you have concerns or recommendations that need to be brought to their attention contact Harlan with what you have.
Lower Western districts have shown an interest in organizing a chapter.
Harlan noted that if any vendor has a training program that they are offering please contact him and he can post it to the web page.

• Matthews introduced Brian as the local service director for the Syracuse area, if you have any questions or concerns contact him at extension 301.
• Stadium International introduced Rob Campolieta as Parts Sales Manager and will be visiting everyone he can. Rob was questioned about the February Central Chapter HMA meeting, he noted that they have a training area and they are in the planning stage of this and will be in contact with the Central Chapter on this.
• NYBS George noted that they have available for demonstration two "Propane Fueled" units that are ready anytime you would be interested in a demo, contact George at NYBS.
• Leonard Bus Sales gave a update on the moving of parts and service, if you need assistance from Leonard Bus Sale contact them.
• Metro-Mobility Ron noted that Braun Wheel Chair Lifts has issued a advisory that the tubes of the lift needs to be lubricated with "Door Ease" is recommended, at inner sliders of the tubes and at rub points.
• Commercial maintenance John Corrente introduced him self as a local representative, and describe their supplies, operation, and mission.

Round Table:
• Lansing, Don Brown, has an ’09 Freightliner Thomas that has a bump pad over the exit door both entrance and emergency that the hold down screws are not staying secure, it was stated that this problem is known and corrective action is being taken.
• Herkimer ARC, Felix Ray, noted that they are using exhaust header wrap to correct the defective wrap at the exhaust pipe.
• Sandy Creek, Ed, questioned if anyone has used or had experience using ultrasound for testing for water leaks, discussion took place on pros & cons of this type testing.
• Carthage, Vic, Does anyone use “Safety-klean” product for antifreeze blend. Allison transmission magic key to update, it was noted that updates are $232.00 has some issues already. Discussion took place on this issue. Discussion took place on EGR, Regen’s, and other known issues.
• Oswego City, Bill, Noted that he has an issue with the frame rails of ’98 Blue Bird, it appears as a bubble or swell in the center of the frame rail, that is actually “Rust” within the pours of the metal that is forcing it apart. (11/2” X 12” Long near center at cross bar) There is no known repair found to date and cost of replacement of frame rail is so high that replacement of unit is more sensible in cost factors. Discussion took place.
• ESM, George, questioned the alignment problems of the Hendricks suspension system, it was stated that this issue was brought to the attention of the head mechanics in past years, with the number of shims being the cause. Torque bushings being defective were brought up.
• Jamesville, Tom noted “Visions” cruse recalls and soft ware updates.
• Lighted “School Bus” signs may become an option with in the next year.
• Cat engine blow by, there is a test that can be done that will show that a broken ring is the problem, can be repaired with in the chassis. Contact Mark Towne at

Meeting was turned over to Richard Dennison of Bus Parts Warehouse for introducing Sales Manager Shelle Johnson and parts sales Michael White, the business operation and outlook was discussed.
