Meeting called to order by Central Chapter president Kevin Dattler

Reading of the minutes of the Central Chapter, 20 October 2010 meeting were presented for approval. Motion made to accept, seconded, and accepted.

Old Business;
• List of paid to date members as of 16 November 2010 was passed around for review.

New Business;
• NOTE: After meeting was closed we received the annual Post Office Box rent bill. This years charge is $116.00 for 1(one) year for Box #521. The treasure has paid this as a normal charge.

Committees:
• WEB Page: Discussion on the uses and operation of the web page.
• Summer Seminar: Harlan had brought to the attention of those present the need of a Summer Seminar Committee. There were a few recommendations for different type of presenters, (vehicle lift safety, etc) if you have any thoughts on this please get a hold of Harlan. The sign up volunteer list was past and the following have volunteered to assist; Don Brown, Keith Sutliff, Clearance Smith, John Cunningham, Thomas Scott, Gerald Ratliff, Daniel Elderbroom, Harlan Pudney Jr., Bob Duquette, Jim Oot, George Toper. More help will be needed so feel free to contact Harlan to add your name. Treasurers’ report for Summer Seminar, balance as of 11/03/2010 of the checking account is $2221.91 with no checks written or bills received.
• Member Call; It was noted that member Kevin Coon’s daughter was involved in an automobile accident that has taken her life. Our hearts and prayers are extended to Kevin and his family on this terrible tragedy, the secretary is requested to send a card in the name of the Central Chapter as soon as possible.
• State HMA: Harlan will be attending the Albany meeting this month, and will be covering Inspector retirement info, stop arm right side, and other items including fire suppression, vehicle modifications, and future diesel exhaust testing. A discussion took place on concerns and problems. Possible meeting with NYAPT in regards to issues and joint operations with NYHMA. Other chapters are showing more interest with more enrolment in the NYHMA. Hoping that more information is posted by the bus manufacturing companies. Discussion on having DOT adjust their requirements due to the decline of budgets’ available, also covered was if there is an established number of mechanics to buses in any of the controlling regulations.
• DOT; No report no one was present.

Vendor Information;
• Frey HD, Kevin had discussed there operation and has offered meet with anyone needed further information.
• Leonard Buses, Rod noted that there is an issue with body to frame isolators (soft pads) on IC’s there is a recall so if you have questions check the web page or contact Leonard buses for further details. Many units have been checked or adjusted as needed. IC has a new “A” type bus available.
• Superior Lubricates, Mark noted that the next Central Chapter meeting will be held at their faculty and they were in the process of putting a program together on DEF the special needs and dispensing of this product there also will other products covered and a tour of the 45000 sq ft facility will be offered.
• Matthews Buses, John introduced him self and was available for question.



Round Table:
• Don Brown – 6 liter Ford won’t start when hot, injector control pressure there were a few offer’s of information on points to check and possible repairs.
• Clearance – noted oil consumption on 2008-9 MB, discussion on took place on oil drain back at turbo and possible issues that should be covered and checked. It was noted that this is not covered by warranty unless a light is activated. Discussion of mechanics as bus drivers was presented.
• A discussion took place on how each district present operates with mechanics driving buses during operation of their shops. Many different opinions were presented.
• Harlan, - Braun Lifts and the problem of pulsating raise and lower of lift, discussion took place, with a few ideas presented. New Cummins engine has a recall on water pump issue, DEF was discussed on amount used and problems encountered so far.
• Vic, - Block heater failure that had shorted to the frame of the bus with120 volts caused damage, ABS modules procedures were discussed, Kevin Dattler has a flow chat for these and also it’s on the web for Bendix.
• Thomas, - Vision stop sign bulbs were brought up that some bulbs draw more amps the fused for. What can be done was discussed. Thanks to PDDA for all the help and patience in finding the problem he had with a MB unit that had problem as if it needed a regen with a low air flow code and found that exhaust brake actuator had a short and was causing this condition, Thomas that all those involved from PDDA.
• 466 EGR cooling hoses on 06 that are not lasting long less 30000 miles, Kevin was asking if anyone has had this issue and other then oem hose as a repair as they don’t last long. Don’t recommend having your buses in your facility, there was an issue that the buses are not being presented for inspection in a timely matter. Discussion had taken place on this type problem and information that has been received on this issue.

Next meeting is scheduled for 15 December 2010 at the Superior Lubricates Facility on 6485 Ridings Road Syracuse. Next to the New Haun Welding building.
