Meeting called to order by Vise-president Keith Sutliff

Pledge of Allegiance was suspended due to the lack of colors.

Reading of the minutes of the Central Chapter, March 19 2014 meeting were presented for approval. Motion made to accept as read, seconded, and accepted.

Treasures report submitted and read for approval by Treasurer Dan Elderbroom,
Motion made to accept as read, seconded, and accepted. Copy is on file with secretary.

Old Business; The NYHMA Emergency Phone Book was discussed with information presented on the current account of those that have filed data sheets and the preparation to have this issue available for printing by July summer seminar. There will be a discussion with the Board of Directors on the subject at the May 2014 Board meeting. Discussion on having a section dedicated to vendors in the phone book and also a section for Towing Companies that wishes to be listed.

New Business;
• Treasure Dan Elderbroom presented the information on the donation of 4 checks from the Central Chapter as door prizes, valued at $50.00 each, motion made to accept this proposal, seconded and accepted. Dan will prepare these for the Summer Seminar.
• Dan noted the great response to the mass mailer that went out, with some that never had the knowledge of this organization and its purpose, also noted the response to the mechanic survey was very good and hopes to have all the data organized in the near future.
• Web page was discussed and getting things posted to it in reasonable time period, there is need for someone to step forward as a data monitor for updating the contact information. If you have thoughts on this please contact Dan or Jason.


Committees:
• WEB Page: No report
• Summer Seminar; 1 table for vendors is left at this time, and to date 51 schools with 129 mechanics have pre-registered, the “Tool Box” that will be donated was discussed, Walk-ins were discussed as the amount of mechanics that are growing, walk-ins may not be accepted if the maximum number is reached prior to seminar. If you’re planning to attend please file the registration form with your information. Presenters were discussed with a decision to have the DOT hold a 50 minute program with information on “Compliance Inspection Information” then a follow up 50 minute “Q&A” period on Compliance any other DOT questions. The use of commercial transportation companies and the requirements that would be the responsibility of your bus garage/transportation department. Spot checks of buses and drivers were discussed at a location such as “Corning Glass”. The other that maybe presented is “Corrosion Protection” and Shell Oil Company with a technical representative.
• Sick Call; None reported
• State HMA; Harlan has attended a meeting in Albany as representative of Head Mechanics. He noted some information that they had received on the new procedures. Discussion took place. Board of Directors meeting will take place on May 22, 2014 at Liverpool Transportation Department.

NYSDOT; No representatives were available at this meeting.

Vendor Information;
• Matthews Buses, Billy Harvey noted that are preparing for a May 1st opening of their new facility. They are attempting to do the move in a weekend, more parts are planned to be available with the better/faster moving items.
• Bob, Bus Parts Warehouse plans on going live with their web page in 2 weeks (+/-), contact Bob to register as a user
• John, Superior Lubricates a special is available for Bulk DEF and testing of products was discussed. John will inquire on a test procedure if there is one.




Round Table:
• Kevin, drivability use has been cleared up by LBS with the replacement of the ECM.
• Billy, questioned if the testing of Antifreeze is a common practice in our field, the leaking of radiators at seams and such appears to be with 2007 and newer products. The issues of radiators were discussed in some extent. The life of coolants was discussed.
• Plugging of EGR valves were discussed with a few noting and issue with them.
• Webasto heater exhaust made from stainless steel was discussed.
• Charge air coolers leaks were presented with a discussion on temperature changes possible cause.
• Black Cummins engine with lift pump failure and no code found present.
• Discussion on PPI Valve with a double check valve discussed as an issue.
• 2010 MB with a check end light and code 527 unknown code.
• Fan clutch issue were discussed with broken wires and bearing failures.

Next meeting will be 14 May 2014, pending location of D&W Auburn, secretary will confirm.
