The following information comes from Cliff Berchtold from the Monroe-Woodbury School District:

We've had a number of "no-warning" road failures on buses with the Cummins ISB engine and the Bosch VP-44 injection pump. The pump shuts off on the road and the vehicle then requires towing and replacement of the injection pump.
NHTSA has opened an investigation and we were contacted by Cummins Engine Co.
Cummins would like to be notified of any similar injection pump failures.
Cummins would really like to send representatives to investigate a failure of this type before it is repaired.
If anyone has such a pump failure, ask them to call Miguel Rivera at Cummins
(812) 377-7512. He promised to deal with the breakdown quickly.

I have spoke to cumins in the past and there is also a link with lift pump failure shortly followed by a Bosch pump(vp44) failure. Something to keep in mind

D&W Diesel informed me yesterday that they now have a pressure swt and warning light that we can install that will warn us of low fuel pressure from the lift pump which will give us early warning of a problem to maybe help in injector pump failures from running the bus with a bad lift pump that the driver may not pickup on
